Why I Keep Evens Young... or... Why He's Aging So Fast

Depends on the day I suppose!  So the day before I left for Texas I decided I wanted to plant my garden.  Evens had already done the hard work for me.  At the end of last summer we bought a raised bed on clearance.  It's 4' x 6' and I figured that would be a perfect size for me.  I tend to jump head-first into projects and have lots of energy and excitement for whatever it is I'm doing, but give me a day... or a week... or an hour and I've lost all interest in it.  So we both agreed that something not too huge would be a good idea for me.  Ok, back to the hard work Evens did.  So he leveled the ground, laid down the matting, and put all the dirt in it.  The rest was up to me.  So I picked out all the yummy vegetables I wanted.  Turns out I wasn't interested in all that many.  Evens had no problem jumping in and picking the rest of the things he wanted planted.  I then went out and nailed in some string so that I'd have even 1 sq. foot sections, and then got to work planting!  My ADD kicked in about 5 minutes later, and I got really bored.  It got really tedious after the 3rd time of making a row, getting the seeds, planting them the correct depth, covering them nicely, blah-blah-blah.  So by the time I got to the second row I pretty much just kind of started throwing the seeds in and covering them up.  (Shh, don't tell Evens!)  After each plant was planted I just kind of dug the packet into the dirt in each square so that Evens would be able to buy the sticks and correctly label each plant.  Then I watered the garden and left.  Turns out I forgot to tell him that he needed to label the vegetables, and a couple of days later we got a really bad wind storm and all the packets blew away!  So now I can't remember for the life of me what I planted and where!  We are going to get a very fun surprise come summertime!

When I got home from Texas this is what I found:

Yay plants growing!

Not sure if my tomatoes will make it...

I can't remember if these are beans or peas!

No idea what these are...

Something growing here...

I know the 2 on the left are butter lettuces, but I can't remember what's on the right side!

Strawberries!

Hello little strawberries

2 kinds of basil

As you can see, the name of my post is pretty fitting!  I'm sure that when Evens is driving home from work each day he has to mentally prepare himself for what he's going to find when he walks through the door.  It's a good thing he's madly in love with me and so most of the time the things I do make him laugh!
