Sophie’s Birthday!
Sophie turned 1 on June 4th, and since Evens and I couldn’t be there to celebrate we had her party a few days later. I think she had fun.
This is Sophie-speak for “ooh, I want this dog”
Thanks Uncle Zak and Aunt Shelby for my sock monkey.
Sophie was not too impressed with her cake. It took her awhile to get into it.
Kara on the other hand loved the cake!
After a few bites of cake we realized Sophie was not going to get as messy as we remembered Kara getting on her birthday, so we cleaned her up and that was the end of her party.
I took Sophie to her 1 year check-up the other day, and here are her stats:
-17 lbs: 7th percentile
-27” tall: 5th percentile
:shrimp
She changed so much from the 3 days we were in Yellowstone. She can stand up by herself now without holding on to anything. She jabbers a lot more (learned some new consonants). She climbs up stairs.
She talks so much, and some of it we can make out: “mom”, “dad”, “dog”, “wow”, “horse” (although it comes out as “ss”), “shoe”, “hi”, “sis” (Kara"), and grandma swears she says “grandma” which we think is “mamama”. She is such a big girl considering she just started doing anything productive with her life a couple of months ago! We are sure she’s going to take her first steps any day now, and then that’s it! My little baby girl will be an independent spitfire, just like her big sister.
It’s hard to believe we’ve gone from this:
to this in just one year:
I love you Anna Sophia. Thank you for choosing our family to join. We love your spunky smiles, your giggles, your clapping at anyone and anything. Daddy loves it when he comes home and you start yelling at him with complete joy because you love your daddy. You are the ultimate daddy’s girl! We love your short little feet that barely fit in shoes. We love your bendy ankles (or lack of) and your fat, fat thighs! We love the funky cowlicks on the back of your head. We love the way you eat, as if there will be no more food left for you to eat and so you have to eat it as fast as you can before anyone else gets it. We love the way you scrunch up your nose and snort at us. We love how you copy anything anyone does and then laugh so hard as if you just made it up yourself! We love the way you have to fall asleep: sucking your middle and ring fingers and snuggling up with a soft blanket covering your face. We love everything about you, Sophie, but most of all, we love you.
