About a month or so ago I won the Ultimate Windows 7 package in a drawing from PCLaptops on Facebook. I was seriously excited because
#1: I can not stand Vista. I have hated Vista from day one and there have been many, many times when I have been more than half tempted to throw my computer out the window, get in my car, run it over, back up, run it over again, sweep it up, throw it in the garbage, and throw my daughter’s nasty used diapers on it and then let the birds eat it. That’s how much I hate Vista.
#2: I thought Windows 7 sounded much better than Vista… and while I really want a Mac, I know that is going to be a few years away, so I figured I would settle with Windows 7.
#3: It’s the Ultimate package… which is worth over $400… or so they told me.
#4: I have never won anything in my life. I can’t even win at Bingo against the old people.
So I picked up the disk. There were no instructions (seriously, just a disk in its envelope). Very long story short: I installed it. Thank goodness I was wise enough to back up my whole computer onto an external hard drive, because I literally would have lost EVERYTHING. They sure didn’t think to tell me that at the store. The other thing no one told me? I would lose Microsoft Office. All of it. Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, and the other stuff I don’t use. But now, even if I wanted to use it, I can’t. Because it’s gone. I couldn’t even re-upload it from my external hard drive. So I called PC Laptops, thinking that they were the friendliest computer folks around, and you know what they told me? Some junk about “you just lose it” when you install Windows 7. So, I said, how can I get it back? “Well, you have to buy Microsoft Office”. Oh. No. Are you kidding me? So since we have no money to buy something as stupid as Microsoft Office (which, I was told, if I was a student I could get for 70 bucks) I’m stuck without my wonderful Word, my precious Powerpoint, and other stuff I don’t use but now that I don’t have it I totally need it! And I am also really disappointed in Windows 7. I guess if I had all the high-tech gadget stuff like everyone does in all the commercials it would be cooler, but since all I have is a computer with no TV connection, and a TV with no cable or satellite, and no laptop, it’s pretty disfunctional. I guess I am going to get that Mac someday.

I'm right there with you on the Windows 7 thing. We bought ourselves a laptop for christmas to replace our desktop and had to install Windows 7 on it. I guess I don't know all the cool features it offers either because I don't have anything of the things you say you don't either. I really dislike money most of the time! So preach on sister!
Ooh, that hurts. That hurts real bad.
Ooh, ouch...that sucks. I hate PCs and I too am going to get a Mac when we can afford it
